15 Months today!

Happy 15 months Piper Bug! Today, to mark your 15 month Birthday you went to the Dr.!! yipppeeee . We are all just puzzled at why oh why your lips turned purple (purple I say!) 3 days last week when you woke up! I think it's the pollen polluted Abilene air and your stuffed up nose, but I am no Dr. The Doc has no idea either. Whatever it was/is, it hasn't happened in days so.... we will take you jolly on the spot if it happens again!

This month you can:
Say : dog, cat, bird, circle, lets go (ok so you have said it once. But it was clear as day and you meant business!) , Daddy, Mama, Zoey, book, bottle (even though you drink out of a sippy you still call it a bottle, although it comes out more like bot..... and than jibberish) , mine and don't ... i may be forgetting a few but that is the jest (is that spelled right) of it.
You hate to go to sleep in fear of missing something,
Love to read and bring us books all night long until you finally go to sleep
Have drawn your first picture and have tried to draw with sidewalk chalk when I pick you up at daycare
Like to dance and twirl around
Play with your new kitchen, bring us tea and cakes and mix us up Cheerios in your pots and pans
Love animals and are very quick to point them out wherever we go
Bark when you see a dog or any animal resembling a dog and Meow when asked what a cat says
Are an excellent hider and love to hide and scare us!
Still change your shoes 15 times a day but always and I do mean ALWAYS bring us matching pairs.
Wisely take your Daddy's wallet and credit cards almost everyday as well as his watch
Exert your independence every day more and more.
You Weight 22.9 pounds per the Dr. today and you are 34 inches long (this could be way off since again, it may come as a surprise to you, I am no Dr. and measured you while you were sleeping)
We love you so much and can't believe how much you've grown!

4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!! We spent a very nice weekend in wonderful Stephenville ( no sarcasm really. I really do miss Stephenville) We stayed with Pipers Mimi and Papa and we went to a very fun albeit very looonng parade with our friends the Slawsons. Piper was more interested in her cheerios than in the parade until.. da ta ta daaaa!!! the horses!!! Piper loves horses. She clapped and smiled and barked (she thinks everything is a dog) . Than it was off to Aunt Bonnies for a family BBQ where everyone played pass the baby and Piper ate it all up of course! She doesn't mind sharing the spotlight though if her cousin Holt is around ( he wasn't :-( ) After that it was off to Mimi's for a nap which left part of the afternoon open for Mommy and Daddy to wander off to the park and shove funnel cake in our mouths (mostly me) Yummy delicous funnel cake!! Than dinner, more relaxing and than fireworks. Piper of course was fast asleep by the time the fireworks came around. Maybe next year she'll make it. :-) The bad part about this weekend is that I broke my camera! I left it in the hot sun and than dropped it so I'm not quite sure which action actually broke it but I'm sure it was one or both of those that did it in. watching the parade go by

a lift from her very accomodating Daddy

So excited she just saw the horses!

Sophie and her Mommy!

Beautiful Sophie enjoying a drink and the parade
(doesn't she look like a cutie pin up girl with her little polka dot dress and red lips !!! So pretty.)

Since we have been gone so long I thought I would actually do not one but 2 posts today!!!!! Yippeee.

Since you last saw us this is what Miss P has been up to:

  • She says Dog, Zoey, Circle, sometimes Closet, Meagan (the girl who watches her while we are finding a new daycare), Daddy, Mommy, ball, sometimes bird.... sometimes alot of words and than we never hear them again but we are making progress!!! I think as soon as she can talk she will never stop. Which is good, she will be just like her Mom!
  • She loves shoes. I don't just mean she likes them sometimes. I mean the girl LOVES them! If ever you can't find her she is either in her room grabbing shoes or in my closet grabbing shoes. She walks around all day with her blanket and at least a pair of shoes if not 2. Sometimes she wears the strap on her arm which leaves her hands free to hold more! And if you don't put on the shoes she picks out, watch out, she will scream and holler like she is being murdered until she has some shoes on those feet!
  • She climbs although we try not to let her do this.
  • She dances. She loves to dance and watch those cuties from the Free Credit Report . com commercials. She just loves them!
  • We are working on feeding ourselves with a spoon. It's a bit messy but we are working on it.
  • She is also increasingly interested in the potty. She has some potty training books and they seem to be her absolute FAVORITE right now. We may start working on potty training soon before the interest goes away.
  • Daddy is her new best friend. That Daddy of hers I tell you, she thinks he hung the moon. I'm great and will sufice but only until she catches a glimpse of Daddy and than forget it!

I'm sure there is more I'm forgeting but since I said I would be better at blogging I'm sure you will hear about it soon.

So, about the daycare situation. Most of you already know the fiasco that happened at daycare. If you don't call me and I will tell you. Piper has been staying at home since we pulled her out of daycare (no not all alone, with a very sweet girl named Meagan). We had our name on 4 lists and YAY of all YAY's we got a call from the one that was our number one pick!!!!!!! YIPPPEEEEEEE we could not be more excited. It's a home daycare and the lady keeps 5 kids. Most of her kids have been there at least a year if not ALOT longer. She came highly recommended by a friend of Daddy's cousin and by several people at work. We have spoken to her on the phone several times and are finally going to meet her tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes! Piper is in desperate need of some friends I think. She does have a friend she loves to play with, Sophie, and I love her Mama but since we moved.... :-( we are sad we can't see her as much. Piper has also made a new friend named Jack who is just the cutest little angel with blonde curls I have ever seen! They also don't live close. So.... hopefully she can make some friends a daycare.
Ok so we have been obviously gone from blogging for a very very very long time but.... I will be better now. In my defense we did have a lot going on, new job, new house, new daycare (don't get me started on this), no new daycare, another potential daycare... a lot as I said.

Piper celebrated her 2nd Fathers Day with her Daddy today. We presented Daddy with a very nice fram for his office from a photo shoot we worked on Friday (we are procrastinators I know). Some sampling of the pictures are below:

Daddy got a triple frame that looked kind of like this. The pictures we actually used are on a friends camera but this is close.
We had a very nice relaxing Daddy day.

I'm a very bad blogger

I promise this weekend to catch up on Little P's blog! I have birthday pictures to post and other new pictures.

The newest thing in Pipers life is that she got her ears pierced! I must say she looks absolutely adorable with her new earrings. And, she hardly cried at all. She is such a little trooper! Some of us, ahem, have also been throwing some very nice temper tantrums lately! Pipers Nana (her Las Vegas Grandma) is always sending packages and I got a not so nice report from Pipers Mimi (her TX Grandma) the other morning when I woke up. Evidently Piper got yet another package from Nana, which we greatly appreciate, but which Piper has gotten used to getting. She knows when the package arrives. That it's for her and we let her open it and pull out all the clothes and run around the house flinging them around until she finds her favorite thing and than she just carries it around for a while. Well on this particular day I was asleep when the package came. Mimi ever so nicely left it on the counter for us to open later. Little P of course saw the package! and much to everyones dismay started screaming, crying and pointing to the package AND would not stop until it was put on the floor for her to bang on and open. HMMM this is not behaviour becoming of a Princess!! I promptly told her that we will be telling Nana not to send any more packages if this is the way we behave when they come. Of course she doesn't care and was quickly running around the house with the shoes (that's what was in this package, 4 pairs of shoes) giddy with joy as every girl should be when they get 4 new pairs of shoes. I can see why she was so excited to see the package!! I just wonder how she knew it contained the shoes she was so giddy to get! Such a smarty!

We also got to meet Pipers newest cousin, Holt, for the first time! I must say he is just the cutest thing ever! I will have pictures to post of him shortly.

SHOTS AND BRUISED GUMS

So the last 2 days have not been so good for my sweet Little Bug. Yesterday, after a very nice family day, Piper was playing with the dogs water (which is usually put up for this very reason) and she slipped and fell. I'm not sure if she hit her mouth on the actual dog bowl or the ground or both. What I am sure of is that her entire mouth was bleeding. Yikes! After careful examination ( and I do mean careful because she was not letting me very close to it to see ), I found a cut inner lip, small cut on the bottom gum right near her new bottom teeth and a VERY large purple and VERY bloody upper gum. I immediately panicked (not letting Piper see of course) and called the on call Nurse at the Pediatricians office. She assured me it was just bruised and to give her a popscicle (which I had none of) I did however have frozen bananas (don't ask me why, because I don't recall freezing the bananas, but I did ) so she ate those. I checked for chips, and loose teeth which she had neither of.

Today, the upper gums look even worse and it looks like her tooth is rotting out of her head. We went to the Dr. today for some shots so I had him check it out. He said what the nurse said, just bruising and it should be good in a few days. Evidently the gums are protecting her tooth which is not out yet so the Doc was not to worried, he said she probably mostly hit her gums and not the actual tooth. Yay! but it still looks pretty bad to me.
Piper got her 1 year shots today and was a very brave girl! Even the nurse commented on how she didn't even cry. She did cry for about 2 seconds on the last shot but was quickly calmed when I showed her my wallet and let her take out her Daddies credit card (this makes me happy and calm too) We than went home and slept for 2 hours than played and when I left for work she only had a slight fever. All seemes good (I however am freaking out from the paperwork they gave me to read about the side affects!!!!!! Sometimes less information is better )

We have pictures to post from Pipers Birthday party this weekend! I will be getting to that this week.

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY LITTLE GIRL!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY PIPER! One year ago today at 5:33am Piper Brielle Baskett was born, 5.8 llbs and 17inches long. She is everything we dreamed and prayed for and everything we didn't even think to dream and pray for. She is always happy, such a good sharer, very silly, a good peek-a-boo player, a very fast runner, an all around great baby. She brings joy to our days like nothing can. We can't believe a year has gone by since we first looked at her sweet little face in the hospital. We hope the rest of our years are as easy as this one and hope that they don't go by nearly as fast. We cherish every day she runs to hug us and falls asleep in our arms because before we know it she will be all grown.

We love you so much Piper. Happy 1st Birthday Baby girl!

Yelling at my Mom because she wants me to get out of the cabinet.

Someone noseing around the cabinets, thinking she is going unnocticed!

Cute girl! This was right before we started yelling at our Mom again.

SPOOKY UTTERINGS

So the other day I could hear whispering coming from my cutie LPB (little Piper bug). It was very adorable but a little spooky to hear this faint whispering coming from her little lips. What was she saying you ask? "Tickle tickle tickle" At first I thought I was hearing things . So I asked her Daddy and he said he thought he heard her saying that the other day but wasn't sure. Apparently her Mimi says that to her every time she watches her right before she tickles her. She also has been trying to get her to say Mimi which would seem easier to say than Tickle. My LPB however chose the more difficult of the two words an now runs around saying "tickle, tickle tickle" all the time; when you pick her up to snuggle, when you change her diaper, when you give her a bath. All you hear is a very faint whisper and than the tickle. As I said it is adorable but at the same time she reminds me of Chucky and I can't help but feel spooked. I also thought she whispered "lets call" when I asked her if we should call her Nana in Las Vegas but that might be wishful thinking on my part.

Daddy's Birthday

So we had a pretty uneventful weekend. We rested on Saturday morning and played ALOT in the afternoon and than we went for a nice little walk. Sunday was a little more exciting (not really but at least we got out of the house on a beautiful day) We went to Ft Worth to pick up our 10 month photos Yay! They turned out great!!! Than we went to visit our friends Ben and Barbara Bailey where Piper did MORE playing and went into the backyard to look at their beautiful flowers (Piper loves to look at everyone's flowers). She just loves to visit the Bailey's. After that we drove back to Stephenville where we went out for dinner for Daddy's birthday and than we were back home for a quick bath and than bedtime so that Mommy and Daddy could go out for Birthday drinks. This morning Little Miss Piper sang Happy Birthday to her Daddy (not really but she did so some whispering with he loves and than she did some shreiking with sounds like Mommy when she sings)

I have some pictures to post and will most likely do it tomorrow.

Poor Girl

So I have to be the worst Mom ever!!!!!!! Our day started out wonderful, Little Bug was all smiles and laughter this morning when I got her out of her crib. She sat in bed and snuggled with me and than we moved into the living room for breakfast. This is where the day turned from great to terrible all in an instant. I put Little Bug in her high chair to make her breakfast (like I do everyday ). This morning however I ran into our bedroom to turn on the internet, I swear I was only gone a very very short while. I heard a loud thud, which I took to mean she had pushed her tray to the floor, which is not uncommon. This happens almost daily. Than I heard a faint cry. I went into the kitchen and my poor sweet baby was not in her highchair but laying face first on the kitchen floor!!!! Oh my god! I ran to her and picked her up, checked her all over and found a very large red welt on the side of her head. Strange thing is she was hardly crying, weird because she bumps her head all the time now that she is walking and she cries like the dickens! I was, needless to say , very worried. She seemed dazed. So I snatched her up and took her straight to the ER where they did a CT scan and checked her all out. She was a little trooper despite missing her nap time AND breakfast. No cries at the ER except to protest the CT scan where I had to hold her totally still (not an easy task). Her very nice Daddy went home and got her a bottle and something to nibble on (if you notice I purposely avoided the word snack as it is my least favorite word in the English dictionary). We were home by 11 and she was napping by 11:30. I was not napping, I was a sobbing mess. My poor sweet Little Bug all crumpled on the floor just came rushing back to me and I could not control myself. Thank goodness for the calmness that is my Husband. A million things could have happened. We are so thankful it was not worse. Little B was back to her normal self after her nap (really she was herself in the ER).

Note to self NEVER EVER leave LB unattended in high chair again.

HAPPY 11 MONTH BIRTHDAY SWEET GIRL!

Happy 11 month birthday to my sweet baby girl!

Right now these are some of my favorite things :

Snuggling with my Daddy

Gazing longingly out the window. Sometimes I bang on it and yell at the neighbors or the dog.

Sitting on my Papa Billy's lap
Checking on my flowers

Looking like a movie star while I push around my lion and yell at my Mommy

Sitting in the kitchen

Snuggling with my favorite Blankie. I hope it never gets lost!

I also have 2 teeth coming in (better late than never), I can walk ( I just started this and already I am all over the house!) , yell at the dog, wave hello and goodbye an sometimes I actually say hello. I love to read my books, especially "Tails". I love to organize the Tupperware drawer for my Mom and I also count the pots and pans and make sure they all have lids ( I do this about 30 times a day). I love to play peek-a-boo and since going to lunch with my friend Sophie, her Mom taught me that I can hide behind just about anything and play peek-a-boo! I had only been using my blankie. With this new knowledge I am such a good hider, I fool my parents all the time. I love going to the park and sliding and swinging. I also love to go for walks with my Mommy ( she pushes me while I sit and lounge) . Having Minions is so nice!

We can't wait for your birthday party next month Little Piper Bug. You are such a big girl, who would have thought you would have grown so fast.

Causing a little mischief

My sweet baby has a fascination with the dogs water bowl. She loves to splash around in it with her hands and also her feet now. The second I turn around it she heads straight for that pesky water bowl (which I have taken to putting up now, much to my dogs chagrin). She also seems to have grown a hatred for anyone telling her "no" . At the meer sound of a stern no from either her Daddy or myself and she gives you the saddest little face and than bursts into tears. Poor girl. Maybe it was that while she was practicing her walking she fell face first into the nightstand producing a very large purple bruise instantly.

Ahhh the turmoil of learning to walk.

On the up side she is doing great at her walking!!!! She takes the cutest most deliberate little steps. She's walking farther and staying up longer and walking a little faster. Adorable

Her Daddy trying to get her to stop splashing in the water
Blurry picture because she's on the move!

Nothing really new except my new love for Lilly Pulitzer

I worked last night and didn't get much sleep this morning/afternoon. I hardly got to see my little Piper.

I did find this cool website for St Patrick day cupcakes though while I was at work . http://www.alphamom.com/holiday/2009/03/st_patricks_day_cupcakes.php There is a link on here for Green Velvet cupcakes, looks kind of gross but might be good. Good for the holiday anyway.

And while I worked I was looking at my friend Mandy's blog and saw she has a giveaway for a super cute necklace. In this post it reference's Lilly Pulitzer. Hearing of Lilly Pulitzer ( and not quite knowing what/who she is) AND hearing that my friend Martha Stewart is doing a show on her I of course had to look it up. What did I find you ask? Only the cutest most colorful dresses EVER! Why have I not known of this before? Needless to say I had to request a catalog, I don't know why since most of the clothes are way out of my range. I do however think I can make some of these or something similar (maybe I can make my new friend Shelby show me how to sew properly) out of the very cute colorful fabric I keep seeing but don't know what to use it for. Now I have a use for it. Yiippppeeeeeeeeee. So if you see my in a colorful ensemble with a crooked hem or extra long sleeve you will know why. Don't mention it to me please just keep talking to me as if you don't notice.

Adorable dress from Lilly Pulitzer (my new favorite thing)
Adorable dress number 2

Most adorable of all. You all really should check out Lilly Pulitzer's super cute dresses

Finally getting with the 21st century!

So i figured I should probably get with the times and start my Little Bug a blog of her very own. I should have been doing this all along but...there is no time like the present right! I have so much to catch up on. Piper will be 11 months old already in 3 days, Oh my how time flies. Piper started crawling when your Nana and Papa were here from Vegas in December. Actually she crawled the first time Christmas Eve, her Daddy didn't want to tell me for fear I would burst into tears because I had missed it. I saw it the first time on Christmas day when she crawled right towards all of her presents that she had been itching to get at. Since than she has been a crawling machine!!!!! Late January/early February she started standing all alone and we thought for SURE she would walk soon. She's been taking tentative steps for the last couple of weeks, 2 steps here, 3 steps there but than just when we think she's going to take off she was sitting down. Well, I am happy to announce that today she Walked, Walked I tell you!!!! from the kitchen to the couch!!!! (our house is not that big so it's really only like 10 feet but still )YIPPPPEEEEE Than she walked again from the other side of the room to the dining room table and yet AGAIN when her Daddy got home. It's adorable I must say to watch her. She takes the slowest most deliberate steps and than looks at us to make sure we saw her. So cute! She has to be the cutest baby ever, I'm just sure of it!
Oh I forgot to mention she also has 2 teeth coming in!!! A little late I know, BUT she is trying to make up for lost time by having 2 come in at the same time.

I had to take this she was sleeping so cute with her little booty in the air
stopping for a quick pose

Looking like an angel right before tearing up my Pottery Barn magazine
